There was a time
When you had a place for me in your soul
Did it burn like fire
With hurtful hands when I tried to hold
But, ooo, darling
You've got a lot to think about these days
And when the lights comes down to shine upon you
Don't you know that hurt will fade away
I just want to get you back and hold your hands to my heart
I want to feel that something special like we had at the start
I think you know me well enough to know I'm down on my knees
If your smile faded because of me
There was a night
When I fell a million miles in your eyes
And it felt so right
To tell you all that I'd realized
But, ooo, darling
You've got a lot to think about these days
And when the lights comes down to shine upon you
Don't you know that hurt will fade away
I just want to get you back and hold your hands to my heart
I want to feel that something special like we had at the start
I think you know me well enough to know I'm down on my knees
If your smile faded because of me
But, ooo, darling
You've got a lot to think about these days
And when the lights comes down to shine upon you
Don't you know that hurt will fade away
Away
I just want to get you back and hold your hands to my heart
I want to feel that something special like we had at the start
I think you know me well enough to know I'm down on my knees
If your smile faded because of me
I just want to get you back and hold your hands to my heart
I want to feel that something special like we had at the start
I think you know me well enough to know I'm down on my knees
If your smile faded because of me
Ooooo darlin'
You've got a lot to think about these days
When the light comes down to shine upon you
Don't you know that hurt will fade away
There was a night
I fell a million miles in your eyes
And it felt so right
To tell you all that I'd realized
I'll tell you all that I realized
Ooooo darlin'
There is so much left to do these days
When the light comes down to shine upon us
Don't you know that hurt will fade away
And there was a night
I fell a million miles in your eyes
And it felt so right
To tell you all that I'd realized
And there was a time
I fell a million miles in your eyes
And it had felt so right
To tell you all that I'd realized
I fell a million miles in your eyes
I fell a million miles in your eyes
Fell a million miles in your eyes
And I fell a million miles in your eyes
And I fell a million miles in your eyes
Ooooo darlin'
You've got a lot to think about these days
When the light comes down to shine upon you
Don't you know that hurt will fade away
There was a night
I fell a million miles in your eyes
And it felt so right
To tell you all that I'd realized
I'll tell you all that I realized
Ooooo darlin'
There is so much left to do these days
When the light comes down to shine upon us
Don't you know that hurt will fade away
And there was a night
I fell a million miles in your eyes
And it felt so right
To tell you all that I'd realized
And there was a time
I fell a million miles in your eyes
And it had felt so right
To tell you all that I'd realized
I fell a million miles in your eyes
I fell a million miles in your eyes
Fell a million miles in your eyes
And I fell a million miles in your eyes
And I fell a million miles in your eyes
about
This song is very special to me. I wrote it around 2009. It's been a very long-standing song in my original music repertoire. I had plans to record it forever, and finally just went for it in 2022.
Houston Hill plays the bass on this track. You can hear the guitar/bass interplay that made the signature sound in our former band. Very Flea/Frusciante in nature. Even the end riffs are reminiscent of Scar Tissue.
I like how it's very ambiguous in the influences. The first bit is Rolling Stones/Eagles '70s acoustic Rock, with some Hendrix and Soul here and there. A bit of Jim Croce and Boston too. Then it goes into the R&B/Soul of the end, in a 2000s Chili Peppers style.
I love it.
